01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

A short walk from Kameari Station, Ofu Shokudo Pepan serves European-style bistro cooking in a relaxed setting. What stands out most on the menu is the thoughtful use of regional ingredients and traditional seasonings from Akita Prefecture. Dishes emphasize quality pork, including Kirakira pork from Kazuno City served as a grilled cut or Milanese cutlet, and house-torched bacon made from the pork belly of Jutton pork raised in Yokote. Pepan also adds depth to approachable comfort items, such as seasoning french fries and a lightly spiced fried rice called "Recchi-chan" with Akita's traditional fermented fish sauce, shottsuru.

At lunchtime, the one-plate special offers a satisfying combination of assorted deli sides and a choice of main dish, such as grilled pork, Aussie beef rump steak, grilled chicken thigh, or salmon meunière. Each plate comes with soup and a bite-sized dessert. For hungrier diners, steak sets featuring roughly 200 grams of Australian beef rump or combo sets showcasing 3 different mains are also available.

The dinner à la carte menu is geared toward sharing over wine or beer, featuring hot tapas and delicate charcuterie. Highlights include a salad topped with house-smoked daikon radish (iburigakko) and house-made tuna, alongside delicate white sausage with a texture as airy as mousse. To close out the meal, guests often turn to the garlic rice packed with beef and smoky iburigakko, or a gentle chicken cream risotto.

With both counter and table seating, the restaurant accommodates solo dining just as smoothly as celebratory dinners or group course meals. Because seats are limited, booking ahead is recommended when planning an evening visit.
